I thought for fun we would continue the trend of dissolving hard candy.

So tonight we have 1.3lbs Jolly Ranchers to play with. I unpacked and sorted them by flavor and found that not all flavors are packaged equally. With blue raspberry being the most prominent in each bag.
I’m thinking since Jolly Ranchers are nothing more than corn syrup, sugar and flavoring. I feel that we might be able to do an infusion right in the bottle as the candy “should” dissolve without residue.
It appears 16 pcs of each all displace the same amount of liquid.

Ingredients (from 3 bags):
- Watermelon: 16 pcs (hate it so I skipped it but you do you)
- Grape: 16 pcs
- Green Apple: 16 pcs
- Cherry: 16 pcs
- Blue Raspberry: 16 pcs
Method:
Let’s get a little bit technical for a moment. Normally I like to smoothen my infusions with 1 or 2 ounces of 1:1 simple syrup. A cup of sugar is 200grams. An ideal perfectly made shot of simple syrup should contain 42.8 grams of sugar. 16 pcs of candy weighs 109.4 grams. Now since I don’t know the exact ratio of corn syrup and sugar in each piece I’m just going out on a limb and guessing that I’m not going to need to add any additional sugar.
I was wrong.
